FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS...

Answers To All Your Questions

Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions I’ve gotten from horse owners and previous clients.  I’m happy to address any questions and concerns you may have directly, please just drop me a message

WHAT INFORMATION IS NEEDED PRIOR TO A MASSAGE APPOINTMENT?

Prior to attending any horse for a treatment, I must obtain the permission of your veterinary practitioner.  All I need are details of your vets practice, your horse's name, age and yard address.  More often than not, your Vet will provide their permission and this is very often done via email.  Occasionally, the Vet will confirm that now isn't the right time for a massage and they will advise accordingly as to the reasons why.  This could be because of a previous injury, infection or ongoing investigations.

HOW SOON AFTER COMPETITION EXERCISE CAN I BOOK A MASSAGE?

At least 72 hours must be given before I can attend to provide a massage.  This is due to the horse possibly being dehydrated, especially in the summer months. To massage while the horse is dehydrated could have a detrimental affect on the horse and this must be avoided.  Similarly, 48 hours should be given before strenuous exercise/competition to allow the muscles to respond to the massage.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED AND INSURED?

I am qualified through The College of Animal Physiotherapy at Diploma level.  I am also registered with the International Association of Animal Therapy which means that I must meet certain criteria to maintain a presence on this register.  This includes being fully insured and carrying out yearly training.  Details can be supplied on request of insurance and qualification
